Rise Rehab Group is an exercise physiology practice on the Gold Coast, founded and run by two Accredited Exercise Physiologists, Zak Bowdler and Isabelle McMullen. We help people recover from injury, manage chronic and complex health conditions, and rebuild trust in their bodies.
We started Rise to make rehab better. Too many people are handed a list of exercises and left to work the rest out on their own. We wanted care that listens first, starts exactly where you are, and stays with you between sessions.
Our aim is simple: to get you back to what you love doing. That means moving from not knowing where to start, to a clear plan, to feeling confident, to being able to carry on by yourself, with us there for a check-in whenever you need one.
Isabelle McMullen grew up in competitive sport, swimming and running beach flags. She was born with cystic fibrosis, was diagnosed with lupus at 12, received a kidney transplant at 21 and was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at 22. She knows what it feels like to be treated like a diagnosis instead of a whole person, and she became the practitioner she once needed.
Zak Bowdler grew up performing in the circus, where movement was about trust, timing and learning what your body can do. He believes confidence is not something people arrive with. It is something good care helps them build.
Both are registered with Exercise and Sports Science Australia (ESSA) as Accredited Exercise Physiologists. You can read the longer version of our story on the home page.
Medicare (with a GP chronic condition management plan), NDIS, DVA, WorkCover, private health extras and private clients. You don't need a referral to book privately.
